And Also The Pulse of Radio reports: Following the recent efforts of tourmates NINE INCH NAILS, JANE'S ADDICTION has now stepped up to help raise money for a 27-year-old man in dire need of a heart transplant. NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor first brought attention to the plight of Eric De La Cruz late last month, offering exclusive VIP concert packages that included meals with the band and special soundcheck access to fans who donated in the amounts of $300, $1,000 and $1,200. The effort raised more than $900,000 until Reznor and company were unable to fulfill any more of the packages.Now according to a post by Reznor at the NIN website, JANE'S ADDICTION is pitching in. Reznor wrote, "These guys actually set up and play for a good chunk of time in a room backstage to warm up and jam together BEFORE they hit the stage . . . For $1,000 per person,they'll allow 10 guests per show (strictly limited) to come backstage and hang out with them while they play in their practice room (literally standing right next to them in a small, intimate living-room type environment), grab autographs and then watch JANE'S ADDICTION from the side of the stage if you'd like."Donations can be made through the NINE INCH NAILS web site. As of Thursday (June 4) VIP packages were still available at five of the seven remaining dates on the current JANE'S ADDICTION/NINE INCH NAILS tour, which pulls into Camden, New Jersey on Friday (June 5).Reznor wrote on Thursday about the fundraising drive, "The incredible response to the charity has raised around 900K and far surpassed anything we'd imagined we could achieve. The consequences of this success means we spend all day meeting and greeting people WHICH WE ARE HAPPY TO DO backstage starting mid-afternoon leading up to showtime."
